MyStudio MS20 Light Box Review

MyStudio MS20 Photo Light Box Review

In the ever-expanding world of online retail, where anyone and everyone with a Shopify, eBay, Etsy or even just a Facebook account can sell items, the competition has become fiercer.

It’s not enough just to put a stock image up along with your products and expect people to click buy. You need to find a way to make your products, whether they’re of your own design or not, stand out from the pack.

In order to successfully compete, you need to have good quality product photos. The better quality your images are, the more sales you are likely to achieve, and you may even be able to set your prices higher.

However, not everyone can afford a fancy high-spec camera, expensive lighting equipment and all the bells and whistles. That being said, you should never underestimate the power of high-quality images, which is why you should seriously consider purchasing a professional photography light box.

Introducing MyStudio MS20 Tabletop Photo Kit

Designed by the leading modular cove cyclorama system manufacturers of the world, Pro Cyc. In., MyStudio is a solution to both the problem of investing in expensive studio and backgrounds.

As this is a company that has produced the virtual and infinity set backgrounds for most television networks around the US and the world, this is definitely a product worthy of your attention.

What Is the My Studio Photo Kit?

This infinity light box is essentially an accurately scaled down version of a cyclorama photography studio that the professionals use. So, you get the benefit of a seamless backdrop to take professional-standard photographs of your products from various angles and at various depths, at a fraction of the cost.

The My Studio comes with a 20 x 20 x 12-inch background and a powerful 22-inch lightbar that provides 5000K daylight illumination with a brightness of 1350 lumens.

There are various models of the MyStudio available but in this review,  we will look at the MS20LED.

What You Actually Get in The Box

You will find that inside the box for the MyStudio MS20LED tabletop studio that you get just about everything you need to get started taking those expert snaps, including:

  • The 20 x 20 x 12-inch cyclorama background
  • 22-inch Ultra-Bright 5000K LED Lightbar
  • 6ft heavy-duty extension lead with on/off switch

What Makes the MyStudio Setup Special?

As noted earlier the makers of the My Studio, Pro Cyc are the world’s biggest and most successful manufacturers of full-size infinity cycloramas. With the MyStudio they’ve taken their skills and expertise and condensed a full-sized cyclorama into a nice portable package.

Because the My Studio MS20 measures 20 x 20 x 12-inches, you are treated to an incredible 27-inches backdrop with a depth of 24-inches thanks to the specially curved corners.

This means that you are able to take shots of small items and products from virtually any angle and still benefit from that clean, white background.

Perfect Illumination From the 5000K LED Lightbar

Lighting is incredibly important when you are trying to take great pictures, especially with a view to selling products and items. There are many people who would argue that lighting is almost more important than the camera itself.

Even if you are using a less powerful camera or the camera on your smartphone, if you have a good lighting setup you can make even simple photographs look much more professional and enticing to your customers.

That’s what makes the MyStudio so great, you don’t actually have to spend excessive amounts of money you don’t have right now on lighting, you can simply spend on the MyStudio and benefit from a  product photography studio setup that includes a high-powered lighting rig too.

Another major selling point of our MyStudio MS20 review is the LED lightbar that works with the tabletop studio. This is a very powerful piece of illumination, considering its size, that provides 5000K ultra-bright white light with a brightness rating of 1350 lumens and only uses 15W in power.

The My Studio photo kit has a lifespan of 30,000 hours, based on usage of 3 hours a day over 27 years and shines in a full 180-degree angle. The lightbar is on a stand that can be easily adjusted to accommodate the size of the subject you are shooting.

Incredibly Easy to Assemble

As noted earlier, everything you need to get started with the light box table top studio is included in the box. Well, everything apart from the camera and subjects.

What’s more impressive is just how easy it is to put the My Studio photo kit together. From the time it takes you to open the box and then construct the thing you can be shooting professional photography with your DSLR camera or even your smartphone, in minutes.

It has a different design to the previously reviewed Foldio 3 light box, but it’s not difficult to use or construct. You can even flip the module onto the 20-inch side to accommodate taller items which is something the Foldio light box range doesn’t accomodate.

Summary of the MyStudio MS20

To summarize, if you are looking to improve the quality of your product images for your online store or to have glossier, professional images for your blog posts, or just an infinity light box but don’t want to spend out on ludicrously priced equipment, the MyStudio Tabletop Studio Kit might be just what you need.

The My Studio gives you a perfect space to take high-spec, crisp and very professional pictures for all your e-commerce and blogging needs. For just short of 300 bucks, it may sound like a lot, but when you consider what you get – a great miniature product photography studio, a powerful lightbar for flooding your images with lots of ultra-bright daylight-temperature light and the ability to take a variety of different shots from different angles, while adjusting the light accordingly. We think that makes for more than a great deal.

To buy each component of this product photography studio setup separately with the same high-level spec as the parts included, you would be paying a lot more.

So, don’t be left behind by your competition, improve your sales and the amount you want to charge for your items by investing in the MyStudio MS20 Tabletop Studio Kit, we are sure you will not regret it!
